Frequently asked questions

About prescription delivery

All CVS Pharmacy locations offer 1–2 day delivery, although some exceptions may apply.

No. Controlled substances, medications that require refrigeration and medications paid for by Medicare B cannot be delivered at this time. Please call your local pharmacy for additional details.

You can only request to have your prescription delivered when it has been filled and is ready for pickup by calling the store, or selecting your delivery options within the CVS App.

Yes. When you place your first delivery request, our system will recognize if your plan allows delivery. If you have trouble placing the request, call your local pharmacy.

If you request delivery before 4 pm Monday through Thursday, your order will be delivered within 2 days. Orders placed before 4 pm on Friday will be delivered by Monday. Orders placed before 3 pm on Saturday will be delivered by Tuesday. Orders placed after 3 pm on Saturday and all Sunday orders will be delivered by Wednesday. No deliveries on Sunday. Exceptions may apply due to your delivery address and any holiday scheduling. You can check the order tracker in your Rx Express Order History for an estimated time of delivery.

No, you don't need to be home. The delivery will be left in a safe place at your delivery address. If no safe location is available, the package will be held at the local post office for up to 15 days, and you will need to either call for a redelivery or pick up the package at the post office. After 15 days, prescription orders will be returned to pharmacy and you will have to call the pharmacy to have the prescription refilled. Additional delivery fees may apply to redelivery. If your order doesn't arrive as expected, check your Rx Express Order History for delivery details and call your local pharmacy.

Your home or a location of your choice. The delivery address must be in the same state as the pharmacy. If you live in DC, ID, KY, MA, ME, MS, VT, WA or WV, state regulations require a residential address for prescription delivery.

Yes. Your delivery fee may vary by location and is not covered by insurance even if you have a Medicare Part D plan. You'll pay the fee at Checkout when you request delivery.

Your pharmacy will share your full name, delivery address and phone number with the courier for delivery purposes only. To protect patient privacy, no other personal information or prescription information will be displayed on the tamper-evident delivery packaging.

You can place a prescription delivery request in the CVS Pharmacy app. You also can call your local pharmacy to request delivery.

Please contact the pharmacy that filled your prescription. Your local pharmacy team knows your order best and will be able to help most quickly.

CVS Pharmacy uses national delivery services, including USPS.

If you are concerned about your delivered package, contact the pharmacy that filled your prescription immediately.

You will receive written information about your prescription with your delivery. If you have additional questions, contact your pharmacy. Look for the phone number on your prescription label.

Adding products to your delivery

No. A selection of everyday items is available for delivery at participating locations when ordering through the CVS Pharmacy app. We will continue to add products as the service expands. Delivery of non-prescription items is only available when items are added to a prescription delivery. Delivery of non-prescription items is not available from CVS Pharmacy within Target stores.

Listed online prices apply to delivery products. Therefore, prices of products available for delivery may not always match local store prices. You'll see product prices before you place your order. If you place a phone order, check CVS.com® for current pricing.

Certain promotional and ExtraCare rewards available in store and online at CVS.com® are currently not applicable to non-prescription items purchased through delivery due to limitations in technology.

No. You can't redeem ExtraBucks Rewards, ExtraCare coupons or manufacturer coupons on delivery orders.

No. ExtraBucks Rewards can't be earned or used in connection with delivery orders

Certain promotional and ExtraCare rewards available in store are currently not applicable to non-prescription items purchased through delivery. ExtraCare and manufacturer coupons cannot be applied to delivery orders. ExtraBucks Rewards cannot be earned or used in connection with delivery orders. Not all CVS.com promotions can be applied to delivery orders. If your code is otherwise eligible, but isn't working, check the spelling, expiration date, coupon and disclaimer for details. In the event of suspected fraud or abuse, CVS Pharmacy reserves the right to modify or terminate delivery orders.

Unfortunately, no changes can be made once an order has been placed.

You'll receive an email and text message letting you know that the product is currently unavailable. Your order for this item will be canceled, but the remaining items in your order will be delivered as expected.

In most cases, due to quick processing and pickup times for your delivery order, it will not be possible to cancel your order before it is shipped. However, if you wish to cancel, you can contact your pharmacy team directly in order to determine if this option is still available.

Yes. Just bring the items and a printed copy of your order confirmation email to your local CVS Pharmacy. Refunds in connection with orders placed online through the CVS Pharmacy app will be issued on a CVS money card, which can only be used at CVS Pharmacy.
