FSA Eligible First Aid

Yes, first aid kits are now FSA eligible, but it wasn't always that way. Before the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act passed, most purchases required a prescription (or letter of medical necessity) to qualify. But not anymore. Today, you can use FSA, HSA (health savings account), or HRA (health reimbursement arrangement) funds for the kits you need without a prescription. You could also use your flexible spending account, your FSA dollars, to restock any bandages, pain relievers, and antiseptic ointments you might need to refill your kit. Having a first aid kit on hand helps ensure you've got what you need to treat minor injuries. A simple first aid kit typically contains cleansing wipes, antiseptic ointment, gauze pads, adhesive tape, and a supply of self-sticking bandages. More elaborate kits might also include life-saving emergency supplies, latex-free gloves, compression bandages, and splinting materials for more severe injuries. Some also include pain relief products, instant cold packs, butterfly strips, cotton swabs, or allergy medication.
