Salt (Sodium Chloride)

Shake well before using. Use 1 bottle for 2 lbs. Dry fabric (dark or bright dye colors- 1 bottle for 1 lb. fabric). Add 1 cup salt to dye bath for cotton, rayon, ramie, linen, or blend. Use RIT Color Remover before dyeing to a lighter or different color. Polyester or acrylic blends dye lighter. Not recommended for 100% polyester, 100% acrylic, or fabrics with special finishes, a rubber backing, washable only in cold water, or labeled Dry Clean Only. If in doubt, test dye small swatch. Do not pour dye on the fabric. Wear rubber gloves. RIT will stain plastic or fiberglass. Not for tub dyeing. Washing Machine Dyeing: Fill the machine with the HOTTEST water safe for fabric. Add dye. Agitate to mix. Add wet, unfolded fabric. Set the washer for the extended wash cycle (total 30 min in dyebath by resetting the wash cycle before the rinse cycle begins). Rinse in cool water until clear. Wash deep shades in warm water and detergent. Remove. Clean the Machine Immediately with hot water, detergent, and 1 cup of chlorine bleach using a complete cycle. Clean lint traps; wipe spilt dye with bleach. Sink or Stove-Top Dyeing: Add 1/2 bottle dye to 3 gal. Hot water for each dry lb. Fabric. Add Wet fabric, and stir constantly for 30-60 minutes. For dark or bright colors, double the amount of dye, simmer and stir constantly for 30-60 minutes. Rinse in warm, then cool water until clear. Wash in warm water and detergent. Clean the container with chloride bleach or powdered cleanser. Wash dyed garments separately in cool water.

Eye irritant. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash thoroughly after handling. First aid: In case of eye contact, immediately flush with water for 15 minutes. Call physician. Keep out of reach of children.
